How to repair a bruise on hardwood floor
December 09, 2009

Q. I have dropped a large plant pot on my hardwood floor which has left a bruise mark. What would I do to repair this area?

First, rub the damaged area with 150-grit sandpaper to the surface of the floor finish through the wood fibres. Now place a warm damp cloth over the bruised area and apply heat on top with an iron set for cotton. The heat from the iron presses moisture from the damp cloth into the wood fibres raising the bruised wood fibres. Allow to dry and apply Briwax to match to floor color. Briwax is available at select Windsor Plywood, Rona, Irly or Home Hardware Locations.
